LE's Litter

I honestly wasn't expecting LE to have a litter, as she wasn't in with Rhett Jr. terribly long. But it was a nice surprise to see her have a litter of 6 beautifully formed little baby bunnies :)

It's hard to tell, but I believe all the babies are grey or black. There might even be a brown or two :)

They're all so cute though :) She's always really protective of them at this stage, so I didn't take many pictures.  A good tip for anyone trying to get pictures of baby bunnies, give the mother something to eat, like greens or some kind of veggie or fruit.  It will distract her long enough or you to get a few shots :)

:)

So mother and babies are all doing well! LE's used to having larger litters, so these 6 should be easy for her to keep very well fed.  And since both she and Jr. are Giant Flemish's, the babies are going to be HUGE! :)

Nickel's Litter

Nickel's litter is growing like crazy!!! Today I noticed some of the babies have their eyes open :)

She has been doing an amazing job with her babies, keeping all 7 fed and warm :)

They're getting so big!

I am a little surprised she has so many white babies, since the sire was Dustin, and she has such a dark coat as well.  But she does :) I'm guessing the white babies will have dark colored eyes, but we'll see.  They might be red after all!

:)

I love this last picture, I was afraid the picture would be too blurry.  But it seems to have turned out all right :) She's so cute when she stands up on her hind feet, seeing what all's going on :)

Tasha's Litter

Tasha's litter is doing well and are looking cuter than ever! :)

Every time I check on them, she seems to have added MORE fur to the nest. She's a very good mother :)

I'm really excited, because from what I can tell, all 5 of the babies seem to have white spots somewhere on their bodies :)

They're so adorable!! I'm really hoping for a female to keep and raise up.  We'll see :)

Their ears are opened and their eyes should be opening soon as well :)

Tasha, keeping a watchful eye as to everything that goes on, involving her babies :)

Tasha's always been a very shy bunny.  Not terribly social.  Needs to attention, very happy to be left alone.  But when she has babies, her whole personality seems to change.  She's very watchful, but patient. And she even becomes more social.  She'll let you pet her (sometimes even hold her!), and is happy to hang out as long as you'd like if you give her some greens :)

Jetta's Litter

An update on Jetta's litter! She's doing very well with them and seems to be an awesome mother.

And it looks like there's quite the variety of colors in her litter too!

There seems to be caramel, brown, black...and maybe grey? :)

She's a very sweet bunny.  And with nine babies, she's keeping them all well fed and warm! I'm very impressed with her.  Dustin's the sire to her litter.  The two of them seem to be a nice fit when it comes to the litters they produce :)

Breeding

This afternoon, I spent some time breeding the females who had false pregnancies, and never had babies.

So first up, I put Valentine back with Bruce. I'm hoping this time she'll have a litter.  They always have beautiful colored babies :)

Then I put S'More's in with Gorman.

It looked very successful.  Since Gorman's definitely proven, it's up to S'Mores if there are babies or not.  After breeding her with a friend's lop, she had no babies.  She hasn't had any litters yet.  Hopefully she'll have a litter with Gorman, otherwise, I might have a barren rabbit.

But I'm staying confident as S'Mores is a very healthy, young female who's clearly ready, and eager to be bred.

Then lastly, I put Dustin and Shira together.

Last time I put Shira with Chuck, but that was unsuccessful.

So this time, I put Shira in with Dustin, who almost never fails.  He's a really good breeder, one I use for my more 'difficult' females.

They should have some beautiful colors between them though :)

Nesting Bunnies

I took some pictures of the bunnies who are due this weekend, and have no begun nesting.  Some have been busier than others, but all 3 of the females seem to have begun to some extent.

Above, Bonnie, standing above her 'nest'. It's not much, but she actually had more to it a few days ago, then took it all outside where it was damp, and fell through the wire.

Below is a picture of Kizzy's nest.

She's actually ripped out a fair bit of fur! She hasn't had many litters, but she's an awesome mother, very attentive and keeps her babies fed well.  I've never bred her with Phantom before.  She used to always breed with Piccolo.  So the color combinations are most likely going to be different.  Every time she bred with Piccolo, she'd have grey, brown, and black babies.  It will be neat seeing the colors she'll have with Phantom as the sire :)

Then here's Dadooshka's nest.  She began ripping fur out just the other day.  So I put her into a hutch, where she continued to pull out fur.  So, her nest is looking very nice :)

She did seem to get into a fight with one of the other females, seeing how her lip on the right side is ripped up and bloody.  She's still eating, which is really good! That's the key, to make sure the cut doesn't get dirty or infected.  If she still eats, it's not too painful.  I've been giving her lots of dandelions to help fight off infection and heal her lip up soon.

So there they are.  My three females who are due this weekend.  Hopefully they'll all have their babies and I'll have Lops, Lion Heads and 'meat' type bunnies :)

Three Latest Litters

This past weekend 3 of my females had litters!

Here's Cottontail.  She gave birth in the evening, on April 29th. And, I just happened to be lucky enough to watch :) She had a total of 4 babies, all of which are doing very well!

From their skin color, it appears there are 3 black, and 1 caramel!

Once again, I still don't have my good camera to take pictures with, so the quality of these are not the best. However, they are better than nothing :)

They're all so cute!

She's a very good mother and hasn't lost a baby yet!

She even started nursing right before I left her alone.  She's a patient mother, very attentive :)

Then here's LE.  And actually, LE is Cottontail's mother :)

But LE gave birth a day past her due date, April 30th.

And, like always, she ripped out a generous amount of fur to cover her babies :)

She had a total of 6 healthy baby bunnies!

They were really hard to get a picture of! They wouldn't stop squirming as they were cold from my pushing the fur back to get the shot.

So I didn't linger too long, and made sure to cover them back up.

It's been nothing but cold and rainy out the last few days, making it hard to do anything with the babies as the fur nests stick all over your hands.

Then lastly, Jetta.  She had her litter a day earlier than her due date, April 28th.

And as you know, she had a beautiful litter of 9 babies!

Baby bunnies are just SO cute!!!

I love how you can see their small features; nose, eyes, and very tiny teeth! It's just so adorable :)

Jetta didn't make the biggest nest, but being a first time mom, she's doing very well :)

And it's not like her babies are cold.  Since there are so many of them, they are keeping each other warm through lots of body heat :)  I believe this coming weekend Bonnie, Dadooshka, and Kizzy are due.  All 3 have already begun to rip out fur in preparation.  And for a few of the females who seem to have had false pregnancies, I believe I'll be re-breeding them tomorrow.  Hopefully it will be a bit more successful this time around :)
