Due

My female Lop, Cora is due tomorrow for her first litter! I'm hoping she'll have them this evening...maybe even while I'm out there so I can see them being born.  It's always really special and neat when that happens :)

But today she's continued adding to her nest.

And just like with all my other females when they're due, I've been feeding her strawberry leaves every day this week.  For those of you who didn't know, strawberry leaves actually help prevent miscarriages in rabbits.

Hopefully her litter, no matter how big or small, will be healthy.  I know they'll be warm enough in this heat :) But it's always a toss up as to how a female will do with her very first litter.  Especially since she's the only one due, I don't have another female to give her babies too if she doesn't tend them.

Dixie

I had Dixie out with me today, like I always do whenever I go out into my rabbity.  Sometimes she chases butterflies, or chews her bone, other times she just walked by my side, following me where ever I go.  Then other times, she goes up to the different rabbit cages and just watches them :)

And the bunnies aren't scared of her at all, since she's been going out every day since she was little. They actually seem very interested in what she's doing.  It's hard to tell by the picture, but all the bunnies ran up to the door of the cage to say hello to her :)

I'm really glad we built this new structure for the cages to hang off of.

:)

Hopefully later today, we're going to take an inventory on what we need to get so we can start building another structure to hang cages off of, totally eliminating our structure made of pallets. I'm not saying the pallets were bad, quite the opposite! They were great :) But they've lived their life.  Boards are rotting, and since the cages sit on boards, instead of hanging, they gather poop instead of having everything fall through.  Which makes it another thing for me to do, keep the cages scooped and clean.

Plus, it will look nicer having everything uniformed again.

I was trying to get Dixie to look into the camera...but it wasn't working.

:)

As you can tell, she's in need of a hair cute! Another thing to add onto my list of 'things to do'!

But she's sweet :) It doesn't matter how hot or cold or rainy it is, she loves going out into the rabbity with me.

English Lop

My English Lop female, Ragnara did not have a litter.  It was very disappointing.  So today, I put her in with my Holland Lop male, Gorman.

Gorman was able to successfully breed her at least once.  However, I like to play it safe.  They say 'third times the charm', and it seems to be true when breeding rabbits.

Since Ragnara is always unwilling to breed, we put her in an animal carrier and took her for a car ride.  This may sound crazy, but it seems to work! It's the trick for stubborn females.  After the ride, they almost always raise their tails for the males.

If this was successful, they should have some really cute babies :)

Ragnara has been with Gorman for a little bit now, but I'm not going to keep her with him overnight, as that's when she bit Oreo last time.

I'm hoping his blue eyes will go into some of the babies, as you can sell blue eye bunnies for more.  Not only that, but I think it makes them even more cute :)

Little Lion Head

So Tasha's only male...may have found himself a home! :)  Someone who got one of Luna's Lops the other week wants him.  And I can't blame her, as this little guy is really cute.

Anyway, these are some pictures I took for her so she could see what he looks like.

And as you can see, he has these cute little white streaks on his shoulders/back :)

AND - he has blue eyes!!! :D

He is so adorable!

And I'm so glad he's going to a good home :) He can't leave Tasha until next week, but it's nice knowing he has a place to go to.

And he has an awesome temperament!

As you can tell, he's fine with being held :)

He even lets you hold him like a little baby, cradle in your arms, on his back :)

Too cute!

Since I'm keeping the female with white (who basically looks just like him), that leaves me just their all tan sister, who has brown eyes to find a home for.  But once again, I doubt there will be any issues as she's just as cute/sweet!

My Rabbity ~ Moving Hutches

Because of how warm it's getting out, we moved the 2 hutches that had been more in the 'garden' area than the rabbity, back underneath the shade of the trees with the other hutches.

I actually think it looks MUCH better!

And it makes it faster when feeding, since they're all just lined up!

Then the other hutch went where it was last year, back in the nook between the other hutches and our chicken coop.  It's narrow, but it works really well :)

Then I finally managed to get my mini garden mulched, yay!

It looks really nice :)

Above I have my Thyme, and below is my Parsley.

And who can forget about the Echinacea?

And also, my Oregano!

I think my rabbity's starting to look better already :) Now all I have to do is a deep clean back there.  Pick up all my puppy's toys, and pieces of trash or paper which have blown around in storms, straighten my sink/bench, maybe repaint some hutches/the newly built-hanging-cage structure, etc.  It's going slow, but steady.  Hopefully I'll have it beautiful in no time!

Button's Litter

Button's only has 4 babies, but she's keep those 4 very well tended!

Above is her solid white and solid black babies.  Below are her spotted white/caramel colored babies.  The one caramel baby looks more like very light tan sprinkled across it's back.  It looks like it's going to be really neat once a little older! If it's a female, I might even keep her :)

Button's, checking in to make sure all is well :)

Holland Lop Babies

Cupcake's litter is doing very well! All their eyes are open, although they still haven't hit their adventurous stage yet :)

I think the blacks with streaks of white on their faces are really neat!!

I'd be shocked it they don't sell within a week of being for sale :)

And their mother, Cupcake.  She spends most of her time in the outer section of the hutch, avoiding hungry babies looking for a snack :)
