"Miss"-ter Lop

One particular Lop bunny from my Holland Lop female, Cupcake's litter I held off selling in hopes of raising her up to be a breeder.  She had beautiful coloring - here's her picture...

And well, since my mistake a few years back, raising up a bunny only to find out once it was fully mature that the little 'girl' was actually a little boy, I've been extremely careful and am always double-checking to make sure I have correctly sexed my bunnies.

And it's been going very well, with every single bunny, until I got this little one.

I checked her once and never looked again until a few weeks ago...only to discover my girl was, in fact, a boy!

Here's a picture of "her" when he was little...I put a bow in his hair and everything :)

So, while his color is absolutely adorable and his personality was great, I knew there was no place for another male.  So before even putting him up for sale that evening, I had multiple people interested and he was off to his new home that next morning.

The lesson here? No matter how long you've been sexing rabbits, you can always make a mistake.  So it's always best to check multiple times, even if you're sure of the sex, just to be on the safe side.  And a lesson for buyers? If you're looking for a specific sexed bunny, always double check for yourself when you meet your bunny.  It's very easy to make an innocent mistake, so it's always better to be safe then sorry and simply double-check :)

Fluffy Bunnies

Some of my personal favorite bunnies - ever - are the fluffy ones! Consequently, it's one of the many reasons I breed Lion Heads, especially the double-maned ones :)

So, I figured I would take pictures of all the young Lion Heads - single and double maned - and put them up for you all to see.

First up, this little guy :) He's a beautiful Black Tort VM.

He's SO photogenic! Both he and his brother, from Tasha's litter, sold to a very nice family.  However, he wasn't the perfect fit.  So they actually brought him back and switched him out for one of Neptune's males.

So he's back with me and looking for his perfect home! He is truly a gorgeous bunny, with a beautifully thick double mane.

Next up, Neptune's son.  He's a cutie that's Blue Tort VM in coloring.

He's much younger then Tasha's male pictured above, but you can already see how nice of a coat he's getting, really thick!

He's really sweet too.  Currently still living with his mother, Neptune and sister. It was this little guy who's brother replaced Tasha's male.

:)

Then first up for the females - this is a beautiful, double maned, Black VM.

She actually sold a little over a month ago.  The person who got her contacted me Friday, saying after an apartment inspection, their landlord was forcing them to get rid of the bunny.  They had until Monday to re-home her, so they contacted me, asking if I'd be willing to take her back.

I did, and so I picked her up yesterday afternoon.  She's the daughter of my Lion Head female, Kizzy.

When I found out which bunny she was, I was actually really glad.  So, at least for now, I'm planning on just keeping her myself and raising her up.  They had named her Emma.  I'm going to change it, to what, I don't know.  However, I just feel like it doesn't quite fit.

And this little sweet heart, my double maned Albino female, is actually the sister to the Black VM pictured above.  She's also the daughter of Kizzy.

Now this little girl is beyond sweet.  She is just the cutest and nicest little bunny you'd ever want to meet! I had originally planned on keeping her Albino sister (from a different litter), and had named that female Marshmallow.  But I just love that name so much, that this little girl is going to be Marshmallow the second :)

Look at that face! :)

She is definitely one of my favorites out of the bunnies which I'm raising up :)

And here's my cute, Blue VM female.

This little girl was from Rosie's litter.  Rosie passed away 3 weeks after having her first litter.  So all her babies had to be bottle fed.  And this little girl was the only female to survive the loss of their mother.  The others to survive were all males, and have all found new homes.  But I decided to keep this little girl, in memory of her mother.  And I'm thinking of calling her Rosie 2, or maybe something similar.

She's not the most social bunny out there, however she's a very good girl and I'm excited to have her carry on the lineage of Rosie :)

Now here's the first of Tasha's females.  She's a Tort VM.

With all my other Tort colored bunnies, they've always been a darker shade of tan.  She's much lighter, almost has a slight orange to her.  So I decided to keep her.

She, like the other ones shown above, has as very beautiful double mane.  Although she's much smaller than the others. When she's older, she'll have some very cute babies :)

The second of Tasha's females, my Broken Orange doe.

My personal opinion of this little girl, is that her coloring is simply breath-taking.

Both of her eyes are split colored.  The top half on both eyes are brown, while the bottom half on both eyes are blue.

She is truly one of the prettiest Lion Heads I think I've ever seen.  And because of this, I was beyond ecstatic when I was able to sex her and find she was a girl.  So of course, she was a keeper right from the start :)

Tasha's third female, another Black Tort VM.

This little girl, to me anyway, looks just like her mother, Tasha.  If it wasn't for the white on her nose, it would be hard to tell them apart once she was full grown.  But because she does have the mark, which makes it easy to tell which is which, I'm keeping her too.

She's a very beautiful, double maned female too.

:)

Then the last of Tasha's females, this beautiful Broken Black Tort.

Both of her eyes are a really pretty blue.

I absolutely love this picture of her, she just looks so majestic.  And for some odd reason, reminds me slightly of a horse :)

She's the biggest female Lion Head out of the entire group!

She's truly a beautiful rabbit.

Then this little female is the only girl from Neptune's litter.

She's a beautiful Blue Tort in color.  She's so tiny, it's crazy! She's literally just all fluff!

I put my hand next to her for a bit of comparison.  And like I said, she's mainly just fur! She's beyond cute and very sweet.  She loves attention!

Her face, currently, is really fluffy! I've noticed with Lion Heads that the older they get, the less fluff their faces usually have, but the long fur remains everywhere else.  I'm slightly hoping this will be true for this little girl, simply so that she'll have an easier time seeing :)

Now moving away from my double maned Lion Heads and more towards my single maned...

All the single maned Lion Heads are siblings from Misty's litter (she's a single maned Lion Head, too).  All the bunnies from Misty's litter have stayed really small! So small that they're honestly smaller than Netherland Dwarfs! And they're all healthy.  They have good appetites, never been sick, etc.  But they really are very small.

This first little bunny pictured is a BEW (Blue Eyed White) female.

I've never, in all my years of breeding, had a pure BEW Lion Head, male or female. So when I got this little one and it turned out to be a female, I knew she was a keeper!

However, just like the saying, "Small but Mighty", that pretty well sums her up.  Although because of her feisty personality, I've been trying to hold her more than the others, in hopes that she'll calm down a bit.

This this is my Calico colored female with blue eyes.

She's a very shy bunny.  Sweet, but very shy.

I absolutely love her markings.  Just like her BEW sister, I've never had a Calico colored Lion Head before.  I think the black markings around her right eye are really neat! They're almost like 2 swirls that go around.

Then last but not least - Misty's Broken Tort male! And he has blue eyes too!

When he was little, I just could not get over how gorgeous his face was.  I really think that massive white patch was just the coolest thing ever.  So I wanted to keep him, but I had bought the Netherland Dwarfs to breed with my Lion Heads to get mini Lion Heads, so I didn't need another male.  But currently, he's fully mature, healthy, and like I mentioned above, not even a pound in weight! So already, he's way smaller than the Netherland male I had.  But he already had a mane, so all the babies would be sure to have manes! Therefore, I decided to sell of all my Netherlands (which I did), and just keep this little guy instead :)

He currently still lives with his mom and sisters, who've pulled most of his mane out.  It had been really long and beautiful.  And well, since he's so mature, he's definitely in need of being separated sooner than later.

Misty's 2 females and 1 male, along with Neptune's female are much smaller than the other females I'm raising up.  So they couldn't be put together (as I'm afraid the bigger ones would attack the smaller ones), so they're still separate, however, all the other females are currently together.

The mom's, Tasha and Kizzy were both getting tired of having their babies around, so this makes it nicer for them.

And luckily, all 7 of these girls get along really well!

:)

So there you go, a few fluffy bunnies to help brighten your day!
