2016!

It seems crazy to think another year has passed! My last post was actually my 250th.  But I didn't do a big post like I did for my 100th, 150th, and 200th posts.  So I'm thinking of possibly doing a 275th post...or maybe I'll just wait and do another big one when I hit 300.  We'll see :)

We've had a really mild winter, which has made doing rabbits MUCH easier then last year. However, this January, it's definitely been getting colder.  We wake up to see frost covering the ground and all water left outside is solid through.

So the hose is officially over.  I've gone to using old milk jugs again.  It works really well.  I fill them up with hot water, then just holding them, they keep my hands warm.  With how cold it's been, by the time I pour the water into the rabbits bowls, it's cool enough for them to drink, but still a little warm.  I've noticed some of my bunnies really enjoy drinking warmer water :)

But anyway, it works well.  Last year it got so cold, I had to water using gloves, because my skin was sticking to the wire cages.  Hopefully it won't get that cold :)  I've been really surprised though, last year it took me 4-6 gallons worth to water my bunnies that I took over winter.  This year, I've been using 2-4 gallons, and still having enough left over to water our chickens as well.

All in all, this new year looks like it's going to be great! I'm excited to see if my Velveteen's have litters and if so, this will be a new adventure in my bunny business.  And it's one that I look forward to taking on :)
