New Velveteens!

So...I got new Velveteen Lops! Since my sweet Franz died, I got a new male Velveteen Lop.  He's a beautiful cream color with a white underbelly and he's beyond sweet! He was born June of this year and I named him Francis :)

Here is his picture...

He's so cute! The lady I got him from was selling him because she was moving to Florida and couldn't take her rabbits with her, however before they planned on moving, she had hoped to keep him.  So because of that, they always had him in the house and so he's extremely friendly and sweet!

He's just so cute :)

Then...I decided to get a few more females while all bunnies are currently so cheap :)

So I planned on getting 3 more.  2 would be Velveteens and 1 would be an English lop.  So I was going to get them from 2 different women who happen to be in the same general area, but both are a good hour and 15 minutes away from where I am.  The one woman was the lady I had already gotten Lilly, Lilac and Ragnara from.

Anyway, the morning I was supposed to go get them (yesterday), I got an email from the woman I was going to buy an all black Velveteen Lop female from.  For months I've been keeping my eye on this particular rabbit and the woman selling her finally lowered the price.  So I was beyond excited to get her!

Well...the email comes from her saying that she went out to check on her bunnies and the cage door to the black Velveteen's cage had accidentally been left open.  And she couldn't find her...anywhere!

She emailed me today and told me she still hasn't found her yet.  I was disappointed, but still excited to get my other Velveteen and English lop females!

So we get to this other woman's house and she goes to get the bunnies.  She comes back with a rabbit that's ears are sticking straight UP and is definitely NOT a Lop.  So I said, "I'm here for the English and Velveteen Lops..." She then laughs and says "I don't have any...I thought you wanted an English Spot, not a Lop."

We had driven all that way...for a complete and total bust.  I thought I was going to be getting 3 females, and now I was going to be leaving with none.  So very disappointing, especially after driving so far.

Well, luckily she actually did have 1 female Velveteen, who was also born in June of this year.  And so I was able to leave with 1 bunny :)  Since her coloring is called Opal, I decided that's just what her name would be too.

Here's her picture...

She, just like Francis, is an extremely sweet bunny!

Very cute too...I really love her coloring :)

And so, those are my new Velveteen's :)  I guess if I want a black female, I'll just have to hope I'll get one in a future litter!
