Rabbit Troubles

Earlier today I went out and took care of all my rabbits.  I feed them their grain, fodder and gave them all fresh water.  I even spent time with each one, petting all the babies, etc.

After I finished I came inside and hadn't been in the house more than 5 seconds when my mom from upstairs yelled, "Megan, you'd better get out there...something wrong with your rabbits!"

I immediately ran outside and out to where my rabbits are.  While running I could hear the sound of a rabbit screaming at the top of it's lungs.

I saw my dad and brother near one of the hutches.  My dad was holding a 5 week old rabbit and said, "His foot is tangled in the mesh wire."

So while he held the rabbit, I pushed it's foot from underneath until we freed him from the wire.  The rabbit was a little girl and her ankle was all cut up and bleeding.  I took her inside and my brother helped me bandage her up.

Using some green bandage wrap and electrical tape, we covered the cut area to keep it from getting infected and to help stop the bleeding.

This is the first time we've ever had something happen like this.  Since we did that, I've been going out ever so often to check and see how she's doing with the bandage on her leg.  We made sure it was tight enough to stop bleeding, but loose enough to allow circulation.

I'm going to go out tomorrow to put more antibacterial cream on it and change the bandage.  It wouldn't be too big of a deal and I wouldn't be so worried if it wasn't for the fact that we have a LOT of flies currently.  And the last thing I would want is for a fly to land on her leg, etc.

So as you can see, she's all good to go! Once I put her back with her siblings and mom she began running around with them as though nothing had happened.  I'm confident that her cuts will heal very nicely and quickly!
