Baby Bunnies

Yesterday was the first day in the 4 day period where my females rabbits could have their babies.   Not only that, but Ruby, Dotty, Valentine, and Tasha all had their litters yesterday :)

Dotty with her babies covered in a nest of hay and fur :)

Dotty and Ruby both had their litters around the same time...early in the morning on the 9th.  Dotty had a litter of nine and Ruby had a litter of ten babies.

Ruby and her litter

So cute!

Tasha, next to her nest.

Tasha made a beautiful and very large/thick nest for her babies.  And while she's only a Lion head who mated with Piccolo, my miniature bunny...she had a litter of seven babies!! That's HUGE for her breed.  Sadly though, they were all stillborn.

I looked online and saw that it's fairly normal for a first litter to be stillborn.  I'll give her a month to rest and then try breeding her with Piccolo again.  Hopefully her next litter will live.  If not, I'm afraid I'll have to sell her.  But she's so sweet and she was trying to keep her babies warm, even though they were already dead.  I feel really bad for her.

Valentine :)

Valentine (my Holland Lop) had an average sized litter with four beautiful babies in it.  She put two babies in each corner of the fur.  Two will definitely be spotted and the other two will probably be solid in their coloring.  All are adorable though!

Then today, both Kayla and LE had their babies!! LE had hers early in the morning, while Kayla had hers around noon.

Kayla had a smaller sized litter, with only three babies in it.  Two appear as though they'll be all white while the other one will be a darker grey. :)

They're so tiny!

Then, below is LE next to her HUGE nest with her large litter of ten babies :)

I absolutely LOVE it when babies are spotted...and she definitely has at least five babies which are spotted! :)  I believe there are spotted ones in ALL the litters so far, except for the Lion heads.

For all the mothers who gave birth yesterday and today I'm now feeding a special feed with extra protein in it for milking does and growing litters.   Not only that, but I gave them all a small treat and some fresh apple.  I do this to help keep them from eating any of the babies.  It always seems to work fairly well :)

Dadooshka and Cupcake still have not had their litters yet.  I'm not sure about Cupcake, but I think Dadooshka will be having her litter either tonight or tomorrow morning sometime.  She's been adding fur to her nest and her stomach looks like it's dropped...a LOT.  I'm really excited :)  I'm especially excited for Cupcake as I love the floppy ears on Lops :)

Anyway, that's what's going on with all my females who are due this week.  The next batch of females are due in 3 weeks.   And in about 2 weeks time, I'll breed the remaining females.  :)
