Eleanor

Eleanor is an extremely sweet female rabbit who I raised from birth.

Both of her parents are dead.  Her mother was Jazz (a beautiful New Zealand who's in the "Past Breeders" section) and her dad was Caramel (a handsome Giant Flemish mix also located in the "Past Breeders" section)

Her father I sold to a friend and got eaten by the neighbor's dog.  Her mother died from a heart attack when one of our dogs got back into the rabbitry.

Anyway, now you know about Eleanor.  All of her siblings were sold.  She was the only one I decided to keep, because Jazz was beyond sweet and Caramel was my favorite rabbit I've ever owned.

I felt like I needed to keep one of their babies because they came from such an awesome combination.  So there you go, I picked Eleanor and have never once regretted that decision.

Yesterday I pet her and noticed she seemed bloated in the stomach, but very boney.  Not only that, but she really wasn't eating or drinking.

I didn't have much time to help her yesterday, but put some canned pumpkin in her hutch with her.  When I went out today, I noticed the canned pumpkin had been untouched.  So I grabbed her and took her inside.  With the help of my brother, we feed her a syringe full of canned pumpkin, then another syringe full of water.

If you missed my past posts on canned pumpkin, it basically acts like a laxative and will clear any blockage in the rabbit's system.   After we finished giving it to her, I put her on the floor and watched her move around for a little bit.

She already was acting perkier and definitely much better.  I held her for a little bit afterwards and by the time I took her back outside, her stomach was gurgling like crazy!  The pumpkin appears to be doing the trick and getting her inside's moving...which I'm very happy about, because she definitely is blocked up.

I'm not saying the canned pumpkin will cure her or save her, but I'm 99% definite that she'll be good as new in a few days because of it :)
