Got Peeps

As I'm sure you can tell by the posting of this title...we got PEEPS!!! :D  I love baby chickens so much, they're just adorable little fluff balls!

We have them in the basement next to the fireplace for extra warmth and of course, we have a heat lamp on them as well :)

We got 10 pullets (which means they are definitely females) and then 8 straight-run (which means they could be males or females).  The straight-runs were Ameraucana's.  We've had Ameraucana's in the past and they're really cool!  They lay pastel eggs that are green, blue, yellow, and pink.  So neat!

This little girl was just too cute!

The peeps with dark stripes on them are the Ameraucana's.  The rest are the pullets.  The pullets were a mix of 3 different types of chickens.  I'm not sure what they were, but they will be pretty!  It was hard to tell which breed you were getting (since they all look similar if they're just yellow!), but hopefully we got a few of each :)

It was hard to take pictures without the red light from the heat lamp causing the photo's to look weird :)

Anyway, we'd been looking to get more chickens for quite a few months, but no one is selling them for a reasonable price, so we decided to just get chicks instead.  They should be old enough to begin laying eggs by this August! :)
