Caramel

Caramel was from my female Scarlet's very first litter.  Since he was male, I could not keep him.  I already had enough males and so he needed to find a new home.  I had raised him, loved him, tended him, etc. his entire life.  So I did not want to just sell him to anyone.

Some friends of ours wanted to get into breeding rabbits, so I gave them Caramel to be their breeding male.

This happened a few months ago that they got him.  He was, at that point, definitely old enough to begin breeding.  In fact, before they got him I actually had him breed with my female, Jazz.

Since Jazz died, I actually am still bottle feeding his 4 remaining kits.  One of them looks just like him and is a male too.

There was one occasion when Caramel was only a few weeks old that he and his siblings all got out of their cage and took off into the woods.  My siblings tried catching them and got all but him.  I went out and looked for him.  After a little bit, I saw him.  Instead of chasing him, I kneeled down and called to him.

After a moment or two, he came right over and let me pick him up and take him back to his cage.  He was the sweetest and pretties rabbit ever.  I absolutely LOVE rabbits with his coloring and he was the very first bunny I ever had that was that coloring.

Sadly though, yesterday a neighbor's dog came into my friend's yard and killed Caramel.  So...Caramel is no more.  Now as much as I loved Caramel, there is no way to undo what happened.  I am very glad though that I have his son who looks and acts so much like him.

So there it is...the basic story of Caramel, my first male that color who I'd raised and loved.  But I'm confident that God has a place for all the animals.  So there is no need to worry about him.  Not only this, but he will no longer ever be in any discomfort.
