My younger sister was like, 'Check this out!'. Turns out, she found a couple of slugs who were in the process of what we believe was mating. I took some pictures, because I've never seen anything like that before.
I looked up slugs mating and it appears that our slugs were, in fact, doing just that.
There was a second set of slugs who were either just beginning the process or just finishing that were very close to the first pair of slugs...
Back to the first set of slugs, this is an upward picture of them. It was extremely interesting to see up close and in person!
I honestly do not know how many people see this normally, but this was a first time for me, I must say.
Now, some people might look at this and think "Gross! Why would you want to see slugs mating? That's just disgusting!".
And while it is true that slugs are slimy, brown, and destroy lots of vegetables in your garden, they are still creatures which have been created by God.
If you can look past their strange appearance and see the beauty in the act of life which they are creating, it becomes a beautiful thing with which we get to look upon.
Anyway, I might not have changed your minds as far as slugs being a beautiful creation or the act of making more slugs being beautiful, but I really found it quite fascinating to see the complexity of new life even if it is just to create one more slug.
