This morning I was busy selling some bunnies, so I didn't get out to my rabbitry until a little before noon to feed and water. However, right before I left to sell bunnies, I had to get them from the rabbitry. And while I was back getting them, I noticed one of Cupcake's babies on the ground, underneath her hutch.
Horrified, I ran over, picked it up, thought it was dead...then noticed another baby, a few feet away on the ground as well. I ran over to that baby, to see a third baby on the ground in the weeds. I scooped all 3 up and stuck them under my shirt, hoping the heat of my stomach would keep them warm enough while I ran to the house.
I knew the one was definitely alive, but didn't realize that all 3 were actually alive until I had them in the house, where I began running warm water over their bodies and rubbing them, trying to get them warmed up. Luckily, it worked fairly well! So I dried them off, stuck them back under my shirt, and ran out to the rabbitry. I put them back into the hutch with their siblings and got some straw from the garage, where I made a bigger 'nest' type circle around the babies in hopes to help insulate them, and keep them from wandering out again.
I kept checking on them for the next few hours, making sure they were still inside the nest and keeping warm. And luckily, it seems like it's working well and all babies are doing very well! :)
Then here's Bonnie's litter.
Being a first-time-mom, she's extremely protective of her babies. So I had to take these pictures quickly, while she was in the outside portion of her hutch, eating some fresh greens I picked for her :)
It looks like she has some dark brown/white spotted bunnies, a dusty/smokey colored one, definitely one black/white spotted baby...not sure on the other two with her, but I'm really excited to see all their coloring the older they get! :)
Then here's Kizzy.
Yesterday, one of the baby Lops I had put in with her was dead. So I got lots of straw from the garage to help make a nest around these 2 remaining babies to keep them warm through the night. So her biological Lion Head baby, and her fostered Mini Lop baby are both doing very well :)
They're so cute! The all white baby is the Lion Head, then the black/white spotted one is one of Bonnie's.
And here's Luna with her litter, all eating lunch together :)
They're all so cute!
I sold the all blue male this morning, then tomorrow I'm selling the blue with white nose female. And hopefully tonight I'm selling 2 others.
So there you go, those are my current Lop litters. All are doing very well :) The mom's have been really good about feeding this year! So far I haven't had to hand feed any of the babies :)
