Ice Ice, Bunny

The other day it literally went into the low hundreds.  And even though my bunnies are in the shade under lots of trees, it was still REALLY hot!

And luckily, very close to our place is a man who sells 10 pound bags of ice for $1.50.  So, I bought 40 pounds, and basically used 37 of the 40.

I was feeding it to all the bunnies in bowls.  As it would melt, they had ice cold water, before that, they could chew on it...some dumped it out and laid on it, or others would lay up against the bowls full of ice.

Single bunnies got smaller bowls...

...while I gave litters large bowls.

And well, it was a huge hit! Especially after losing Bonnie to what I believe was the heat, I wasn't taking any chances with any of my other bunnies.  And I feel this was the least I could do to help them stay nice and cool.

So I pulled out a bunch of fans from our garages and hooked them up.

It makes it slightly difficult with feeding/watering, but I'm okay with that. I just want my bunnies to stay as cool as possible in this heat!

Even my puppy Dixie was enjoying the fans :)

She was panting in these pictures (I was feeding her ice too), but it looks like she's smiling :)

:)

I set these fans up a few days ago,  but they're still up and running as it's been in the high 90's every day the past few days!

And I put up my rabbit tractor on craigslist.

I never used it.  Not even once.  It's just taking up space in the yard at this point.  So hopefully someone else will be able to use it.

I have it up for $40, or trade for either 2 Double Maned Lion Head females between the ages 5 months and 2 years, or for 2 Mini Lop females between the ages of 5 months and 2 years.

Hopefully it will go quickly! Although if it doesn't, I think we'll start using it for my sister's chicks which she hatches so they can fertilize the grass.
