So, my male Oreo (first male I EVER owned), seems to have gotten bitten when he and Ragnara were together, breeding.
It's on his lower back, on the left side.
I first even noticed as it swelled up, making a big bump on his back. Pushing the fur away, I saw this...
You can clearly see both sides where her top and bottom set of teeth sank in and bit him.
I looked it over carefully, and thankfully there doesn't seem to be any signs of insects.
But it looks so bad! His appetite is the same and he's as active as ever. Which is a VERY good sign!
However, it doesn't take away from the fact that his bite looks horrible! And could easily become infected...if it isn't already. So I've been putting triple antibiotic ointment on the bite each day.
And, I went and dug into my awesome (but small) stash of drops to add to the bunnies water.
These have been SO helpful over the years!!! Anyone who owns rabbits (and especially if you're breeding them!) should check out Amber Technology. They supply organic, essential oil drops for all different occasions to add to your bunny's water. And they WORK!!
Anyway, I've begun putting the Immune, Oral & Skin Support drops into Oreo's water. This should really help him out!
He's an amazing breeder...probably my best one. And since he's my first male too, I really like him and don't want to lose him, especially over a bite! So I'm going to do all I can to get him fixed up quickly!
Another thing, I've been feeding him TONS of herbs! Herbs like Plantain, Dandelions, and Echinacea. These should help heal him up in no time! :) But I still have to keep an extremely close eye on it, making sure infection doesn't set in, and even more importantly - that bugs stay away!
